Sonsoles is a Spanish name. It is the deturpated form of San Zoles, variant of Saint Zoilus, a name of a saint that served as a place name.
In contemporary Spanish, it sounds like "son soles", that is, "they are suns", and that's the sentence that, according to the legend, Ávila inhabitants exclaimed when a fulgurant statue of the Virgin Mary was discovered after being hidden during the Muslim occupation of the Iberian Peninsula.
There's a temple in Ávila -a city in the Autonomous Community of Castilla y León, Spain, Europe- which keeps that legendary image of the Virgin Mary. The temple is called Nuestra Señora de Sonsoles (Our Lady of Sonsoles) and her festivity is held in the second Sunday in October.

There are some famous women named Sonsoles in Spain, for example, Sonsoles Suárez Illana, journalist and daughter of the former President of the Government Adolfo Suárez González.
Sonsoles Espinosa Díaz is the wife of the current President of the Government of Spain: José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.
Sonsoles is also my sister's name (we have nothing to do with Presidents of the Government, so far ;p), and she is somewhat famours too, having won some bagpipes constests in Galicia as a solo and duet player. And regardless of how much I despise her ;p, this namelisting is devoted to her.
